Buyer/Planner I

POSITION SUMMARY

Buyer/Planner determines what goods and services the business needs for internal use and/or production. Ongoing evaluation of current and potential suppliers based on their product quality, cost, delivery times and customer service.  Analytically assess price, payment terms and delivery schedules. Key objectives are achieving/improving/exceeding targeted On Time Deliver, managing inventory levels & targets, and managing demand within the supply chain.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Plan and execute procurement of materials from domestic and global suppliers
  • Maintain strong working relationships & communications with suppliers to confirm production/shipping schedules and monitor open purchase orders for all orders to ensure on-time deliveries
  • Proactively report product and material availability issues to production & fabrication
  • Coordinate inventory planning and replenishment of raw materials and components in conjunction with our program management teams
  • Analyze and utilize MRP, Source list, Material master/parameters
  • Inventory Management: Support reporting, inventory parameters, reduction and reserve
  • percentage measurements, Product Life Cycle management
  • Maintain purchase order status
  • Provide support to Customer Care, Sales team, Production, with business updates
  • Complete special projects and assignments as requested
  • Monitor/update FIFO production schedule daily to address product delivery issues
  • Other duties as assigned.


Position Qualifications
Competencies Required

  1. Basic knowledge of forecasting, MRP, transportation, supply chain, inventory management and warehousing disciplines
  2. Proficient with MS Office suite – advanced skills with MS Excel
  3. Strong sense of urgency & attention to detail
  4. Excellent organization, communication and follow-up skills
  5. Ability to self-direct and take some action in ambiguous situations
  6. Extremely high standards of ethical excellence
  7. Analytical with a methodical approach to problem solving
  8. Experience establishing and employing demand-pull material planning

Skills & Abilities

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Experience: 1-5 years in supply chain, logistics, sourcing. Some experience with ERP/WMS systems
  • Computer Skills: MS Office/Excel/email
