FC Lighting | Solid State Luminaires is a well-established manufacturer of architectural exterior and interior commercial LED lighting based in the Western suburbs of Chicago. We manufacture architectural LED lighting for high-end aesthetic installations with an incomparable value for quality solutions. The performance of LED-based lighting depends heavily on the key elements of fixture design. FC Lighting maximizes efficiency and fixture longevity through minimizing performance-robbing thermal build-up and controlling excessive and wasteful beam spread. Our product lines include: Step Lights, Cylinders, In-grounds, Pendants, Exterior Decor, Bollards, and Directional Wall lighting for exterior and interior applications.

Position Summary
This position is the organization’s “Champion of Quality” and is responsible for implementing, managing and improving quality management systems, policies, practices and procedures related to manufacturing environments.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Creates, documents and maintains quality management systems; internally, for both incoming receiving, fabrication and final assembly testing, and for suppliers
  • Completes internal quality system and compliance audits for all quality management systems
  • Investigates customer complaints and internal nonconformance reports, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation, through teamwork and participation from department managers
  • Coordinates RMA’s and debit memos for produced and purchased products
  • Drives continual improvements of quality management systems based upon internal audits.
  • Completes supplier qualifications and audits when required and when necessary
  • Develops and manages standard operating procedures, detailed work instructions and quality assurance forms in collaboration with Department Managers
  • Provides regularly reporting on quality issues and implements corrective actions when adverse trends are identified.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities

    Education:
    Bachelor’s or Technical Degree in an engineering-related field required
    Intermediate knowledge of global 8D problem-solving method
    5 years of quality-related experience in mechanical and electrical engineering in a manufacturing environment

    Experience:
    Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams
    Experience with metal fabrication machinery and their processes
    Experience with safety compliance programs (ETL, UL, NSF)
    Intermediate knowledge of LEAN, Six Sigma and 5S principles
    Applicable knowledge of SQC, TQC, SPC, TQM quality principles
    Quality Control measurement tools (Calipers, Torque tools, electrical) (TIG, MMA etc.)

    Computer Skills:
    Advanced Microsoft Office skills required, ability to interface with ERP system (Epicor 10 preferred), 3-D Design software (SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD)
